Ten individuals convicted of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for engaging in the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced accusations of disseminating false claims regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to making hurtful comments about the couple's age disparity of 24 years.
The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A persistent unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's identity.
Their legal filing states that Owens brushed aside any factual proof that refuted her assertions choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she was a teacher at his lycée.
The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
