PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

Yet, Marseille fired twice late to seize a surprise lead. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital leveler in the dying seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
