AC Shadows Unveils Bizarre AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving

In a unexpected collaboration that breaks conventional forecasts, the game developer has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering free extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Revealed

According to the official statement, "A strange meeting pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome changes resonate through the darkness." The narrative presents a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a hidden sect.

The mission concentrates on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome enemy" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Iconic Places and Transformations

The teaser highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview finishes with a powerful moment showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Prizes and Additional Material

Players who accomplish the mission will obtain an exclusive katana in addition to multiple items concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

  • Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
  • Mikasa attire for Naoe
  • Special implements
  • Survey Corps mount

Newest Free Story Update

This patch also introduces the game's newest free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe reveals a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Japanese Animation Partnerships

This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally featured a quest that clearly echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
